SVDP Provides A Safe and Trusting Environment For All
Since 1984, SVDP shelter has been a refuge for thousands of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The largest program of its kind in the State of Connecticut, the shelter is able to serve up t0 108 people each night, but in an emergency situation the shelter can serve an additional 16 individuals. SVDP shelter services go beyond a hot shower, a clean bed, and a safe place to restore: On a daily basis, their shelter guests are offered individualized and comprehensive case management services so they can obtain the tools and resources necessary to overcome their housing challenges.
They not only operate to ensure that individuals and families experiencing homelessness receive basic needs and housing, but also to help them find sustainable solutions to overcome homelessness and successfully reintegrate into the community at large. By providing these services and cooperatively partnering with other providers, they are helping people end their cycle of homelessness.
